Building the Ecosystem
ACIR also creates and runs programs for strengthening innovation and entrepreneurial ecosystems. Our flagship program is the Nexus initiative in India, which ACIR staff founded (in partnership with the University of Texas) in 2017 and then ran until 2024.
Nexus is an initiative to showcase American best practices in incubation and to support the growing Indian entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem. ACIR was brought in to create a central hub (Nexus) for entrepreneurs, innovators, government agencies and funding organizations to come together and collaborate to promote Indian startups and strengthen the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
The Nexus Incubator offers selected startups training from top commercialization experts, an extensive mentor network and unparalleled access to networks of corporate partners as well as to both private and public fund managers. Through Nexus, ACIR has graduated 231 startups, who have raised over 80 million of dollars in outside funding, created thousands of jobs and closed hundreds of business deals with numerous Indian and U.S. companies.
ACIR also works with corporate partners to run innovation challenges, bringing innovative technology solutions to industry specific problems.
Past programs have focused on aerospace and defense challenges with Lockheed Martin and Pratt & Whitney, “deep tech” solutions with Nvidia and Johnson Controls and “green” innovations focused on circular economy and renewable energy (Coca Cola, IBM).
If you are looking for an experienced group with proven, on-the-ground experience to help you build and strengthen a national or regional innovation ecosystem, give ACIR a call.
